Credit Score
A 300–900 summary of your credit history. Lender minimums vary: B Lenders near 500, A and insured deals near 600, preferring 680+.
Credit scores in Canada generally range from 300 to 900. Your score is based on your payment history, the amount of debt you carry, and the length of your credit history.
Lender minimums aren't set by regulation — they vary by lender and by lender type. Based on Baneet Grover's own review of current policy across dozens of Canadian mortgage lenders, as Brkrr's founder and a licensed mortgage agent: B Lenders typically start around a 500 score, A Lenders typically start around 600, and insured deals also start around 600 but lenders generally prefer 680 or higher. A score in between isn't an automatic decline — it usually just needs stronger supporting reasoning, and that's exactly where a mortgage agent's ability to structure your file and present it well to the lender matters most.
